Thursday April 17th. Adelfia Greek Taverna charity auction to help hospital’s kids’ ward. Memorabilia signed by Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, Sir Edmund Hillary, tennis ace Roger Federer and the stars of the Harry Potter movies will be auctioned for charity. The memorabilia are among a range of items that will go under the hammer at a charity auction at the Adelfia Greek Taverna, on the corner of Aplin and Grafton streets, from 6.30pm on Thursday, April 17. The charity auction is being held to help celebrate the Adelfia Greek Taverna’s second anniversary – but also marks the second year the taverna has hosted the charity auction. “Andrew, Chris and Danny from the taverna wanted to celebrate their second anniversary with a great party and some great charity fundraising,’’ Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation Fundraising and Marketing Manager Glenys Duncombe said. “So they agreed to host the charity auction once again. Last year’s Adelfia Greek Taverna Charity Auction raised about $35,000 for the Paediatric Unit at Cairns Base Hospital and also for the Special Care Baby Unit at the hospital.’’ Ms Duncombe said the money raised from this year’s charity auction night also would go towards the Paediatric Unit at Cairns Base Hospital. “Steve Habjan of Ray White Cairns and his team once again have agreed to donate their auctioneer services for the evening and we commend them and the staff and management of the Adelfia Greek Taverna for their public spiritedness,’’ she said. The auction items consist of music and sporting memorabilia, as well as art and holiday packages, including: • Pink Floyd signed and framed Fender electric guitar. • Roger Federer signed tennis racquet, used by Federer, in a box frame. • Rolling Stones signed large photo. Framed with drum head and original LP. • Harry Potter photo signed by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. • Sir Edmond Hillary signed piece. Ms Duncombe said the charity auction night would cost $60 to attend, with the price including a mouth-watering, five-course set menu. Tuesday 15th January. Peter Andre and Katie Price (aka Jordan) will be our special guests at Adelfia on Tue 15/01/08 as they spend the evening with us eating, drinking and dancing the night away. They will be accompanied by a film crew from ITV(uk) who will be filming Peter and Katies travels throughout South East and North Queensland. Come down and say g'day if you get a chance....it is going to be a fun filled evening and you might even get to hear Peter and Chris Andre belt out some old classic tunes together....for old times sake!!!
